TFTI is compiling a list of skater fundraising pages to help connect donors with skaters. Training costs in the U.S. and Canada, especially for skaters at the junior and senior level, can be steep — even outside coaching and ice time fees, costs can range from boots and blades from the mid-hundreds to over $1000, to travel expenses, whether making a road trip for choreography, commuting to a distant rink, or tackling extra competitions. While funding options from federations and local or regional organizations may be available, for those skaters outside the highest-ranking designations, they can only make a small dent. Thus, many have turned to GoFundMe and similar outlets — even a $5 donation can cover something as simple as blade sharpening.
If you know of a skater or team with a fundraising website, please send the link to editor@twofortheice.com. Sites for skaters of any discipline representing any country are welcome!
