As has become tradition, icenetwork is making available recordings of media conference calls with some of U.S. Figure Skating’s world team members, with today’s calls including one with 2015 U.S. ice dance champions Madison Chock and Evan Bates: Chock & Bates’ 2015 Worlds Teleconference.
While Skate Canada does not make its conference calls as widely available to the general public, the schedule for this week’s includes Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford (today), Lubov Iliushechkina and Dylan Moscovitch, and Kaitlyn Weaver and Andrew Poje (both March 17), so articles with the latest pre-Worlds updates may be shortly anticipated.
Listed on Ice Partner Search as of March 14 is Mariève Cyr, who with Benjamin Brisebois-Gaudreau finished tenth at January’s Canadian Tire Figure Skating Championships. The team, paired since 2010, also made their first senior international appearance this season, finishing fourth at the U.S. International Skating Classic on the Challenger Series, including a third-place result in the short dance; previously, they competed on the Junior Grand Prix in 2012-13, placing seventh at JGP Chemnitz. Despite their ranking, the couple had lovely qualities, including a softness to their skating and nice ease with some quite original material. The two performances below come from third-place finishes at December’s Skate Canada Challenge and August’s Quebec Summer Championships:
And a special note, too, for their creative 2013-14 gospel free dance, as seen here at 2014 Canadians.
All the best to both skaters as they move forward!
